With a very private ceremony attended by the owner, the keel of the first Sanlorenzo 72Steel was laid last Saturday, marking the official recognition of the beginning of construction for the future flagship of the superyacht fleet.
The 72Steel will be a completely innovative project compared to the past, while maintaining the unmistakable style and DNA of Sanlorenzo: an impressive 72-meter metal yacht with five decks and a volume of 1850 GT, set to be launched in 2025. The second unit of this line has also been sold.
The international broker house Edmiston, which completed the sale, will also handle the project management. The exterior lines and interior design will be developed by Zuccon International Project and Francesco Paszkowski Design, in a project studied from all angles around the concept of livability onboard, where the owner's cabin will have its own dedicated deck, the Owner deck. The interior and exterior spaces will interact intelligently and functionally, thanks in part to the extensive use of glass surfaces.
The new flagship of the Sanlorenzo range will be one of the first yachts of the future, featuring a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system, a result of the shipyard's ongoing research into practical solutions to reduce the environmental impact of its vessels. This system embodies the best green technology available on the market today and represents a concentration of innovations that will significantly reduce emissions into the atmosphere and the sea, while maintaining high onboard comfort and optimizing the space dedicated to the engine room, increasing the internal volume available for the owner and guests.
There are 22 superyachts made of steel and/or aluminum, ranging from 44 to 73 meters, currently under construction. The Superyacht Division continues to experience steady growth and reaffirms its leadership in the metal sector with a fleet of 45 units currently in operation.
